Golf Sixes League Cornwall
Our Budock Vean Golf Club Juniors section competed this weekend in the West Cornwall GolfSixes League.
Trialled in 2017 with the support of Sport England, GolfSixes was created to give juniors the chance to play in a competitive golf league with other local clubs. Its aim was to increase the number of regular players and junior members at golf clubs and results show the format is working. What’s more, the GolfSixes league is attracting youngsters from non-golfing families.
GolfSixes involves children playing six holes in pairs using the highly inclusive Texas Scramble format, accumulating points for their team of six. This format is designed for non-handicap players of 37 and above.
Teeing off at 4pm on the 10th of July at Budock Vean were teams from Tehidy, Falmouth, Radnor and West Cornwall golf clubs. On a beautiful sunny day the club was packed with family members here to support their children.
The results on the day were:
Radnor 99pts
West Cornwall 103pts
Tehidy 113pts
Falmouth 117pts
1st place went to Budock Vean Buzzards on home turf with 118pts. We are now 3rd in the league table. If we stay there, the top 3 teams from West Cornwall will meet the top 3 from East Cornwall in the grand finals in September.
