Golf: Tony Grace Charity Trophy
On Saturday 4th September 2021 the Budock Vean Golf Club said a fond fair well to their past President, Tony Grace, and to celebrate his life with a charity trophy raising funds for Cancer Research UK.
With a strong field of 60 members who battled out a high scoring tournament in the best of spirits in front of his family, the tournament was won with a score of 54 points by Des Sadler and Robbie Gibson and the trophies were presented to the pair by Tony’s Grandchildren, Kyle and Jade.
Tony’s great friend, Fred Goodman, relayed stories about this remarkable gentleman who, in his own words, never had a bad word to say about anyone. His poignant words struck a chord with many of his friends in attendance.
A very well supported auction followed, generously sponsored by West Country Fruit Sales, Mathew Stevens Cornish Fish, Celtic Fish and Game, Roskilly’s, the Greenbank Hotel, the Penventon Hotel, Brian Etherington Meat Company, the Grace family and members of the club, which raised a grand total of £2,112.00.
