Over £8,000 raised for local charities
Over £8,000 was raised for local charities by our golfers at Budock Vean Hotel at their annual club charity day and fundraising event. The charity day, which took place in August, saw our members and their guests gathering to play golf and take part in fundraising activities on the day.
Each year our club captains select a charity. This year our Ladies captain chose Cornwall Wildlife Trust and our Men’s captain chose Inspire Health Cornwall as his beneficiary. Just shy of 1656 holes were played during the day by 92 players and there were 14 private and corporate sponsors together with our suppliers who donated prizes.
“We had a fantastic charity day, the men and women’s teams showed up in force and our juniors also took part. It really was an exciting day. Huge thank you to all our sponsors and donors who helped us raise this brilliant sum of money for local charities” Tony Ramsden, Golf Manager at Budock Vean
The club, which has around 200 members including a thriving junior section, spent time finding local companies to sponsor individual holes on the course for the day as well as Brian Etheringtons, Roskillys, Cornwall Fish Direct, Westcountry Foods, Yates butchers, Celtic Fish & Game and Cornwall Coffee who all donated prizes.
“Huge thank you to the local companies sponsoring a hole including Greengen, Steve Kimberley, Heather & Lay, Blue Flame, Keith Penrose funeral services, Cornwall Lead, Jewsons Penryn, MKM, RGB Building Supplies and Fox Construction and, of course, our private, individual sponsors and those who kindly donated to the raffle.” Ken Symonds, Club Secretary
